Since I started making the DTR for others I have been asked many times for a weighted method to use the DTR. This page will show how to convert the DTR to use weights without having to buy any extra parts other then washers.
I remove the push plate from the push rod. Here I am using a 4 inch push rod. Every DTR kit comes with this extra rod.
I line up the hole on the push rod that is used for elastic tension.
I am tightening the stainless steel screws so that the screw sits inside the hole in the rod that normally would have an elastic through it.
I use 2 screws to hold so that there is no chance of the rod moving or falling out. The 2 screws do not press against the rod they just sit inside the hole in the rod.
I use 1 1/4 inch OD by 1/4 inch ID stainless steel washers. Any washer can be used but I find stainless steel to work great since there is no chance of rust and are just cleaner to work with.
I can use there push plate as a cap to keep the washers from falling off the push rod. Just by flipping the push plate over and screwing it onto the threaded end of the rod.
I can also use nylon wing nuts for a cap. These are available on the parts page if you need them.
As you can see the weight give a good tug, The DTR with washers weighs about 17 oz. This give a little more then 1lb of weight using the 4 inch rod. I only use this method when standing and for me that happens to be a lot since when I make DTRs I am always standing for hours doing so.
I don't think this method is practical unless you are in a non public place where you can deal with a 1lb weight hanging from your penis. It does feel pretty good for some strange reason and is a good way to change my routine from time to time especially when I am standing at my lathe for hours.
Total cost for me to use this was about $8 in stainless steel washers. Just proving once again how versatile and cost efficient a DTR can be.
I flip the rod over and incert the side with the hole into the DTR bell.
It might be easier to attach put the DTR bell on first then slide the rod into the bell.
line the holes up in the rod and tighten the screw and its all set.
Medical tape is a good way to keep your stacked washers from turning you into a human slot machine. I just make small stacks so I can use what ever amount of weight anytime.
Jan 27 2017 , A new Magnet connect is being worked on that makes using weight much easier and fast to take off and put on. This will be very inexpensive and simple for anyone to use. So this page will be revised soon. This is the old way of adding weight.
