Tension settings and what to expect when restoring
How much tension is needed to produce skin growth. This is the big mystery question when it comes to restoring. This is a close-up of skin right after I removed the DTR this would be the inside of my foreskin. As you can see the skin that looks very stressed. This is what I look for to let me know I was causing enough stress to the skin so that more skin cells will grow. If I did not get this effect when using the DTR I knew I needed to increase the tension. This would be after a couple of hours using the DTR. Someone new to restoring might not have the same effect on their skin in the beginning. You want to use caution so that you do not cause so much stress that you get small tears in the skin causing you to put your restoring on hold for a few days to let you skin heal.
Tension Settings
The chart bellow will give you an idea of how to figure out low to high tension. The minutes are how long I am able to wear the device before feeling the need to remove it because of discomfort. Any discomfort would be immediately relieved from either lowering tension or removing the DTR for 30 seconds.

The chart bellow will give you an idea of the changes typically seen when restoring as months go on.
Stages reached when restoring
Months of restoring
stage I
"sensitivity in glans" if you keep your glans covered with a retaining ring when not restoring.
3-5 months
stage II
"rollover effect" this will happen when you do not have a restoring device on and your feel your skin covering part of your glans.
This first happens to most guys when they are sitting.
4-6 months
stage III
"flaccid coverage" glans covered by restored foreskin when flaccid.
18-30
months
stage IV
"overhang" restored foreskin extending past glans when flaccid.

Devices you choose will play a large role because of the amount of force you can apply. Take 0-rings for example, There force is low due to the fact it's using the shaft skin for tension.Using weights or an elastic strap on a tugging device would give you a higher tension rating.Bi-directional devices ( such as a DTR ) can give you the highest tension in my opinion.I think some variety is also good. Changing the tension and even using more than one technique. The amount of hours you restore every day is a big debate among restorers. There hasn't been a control study on this subject to really have proof on what works best.
All you can do is see what other men have done and decide for yourself.
The main thing is consistency. Make sure you have a routine that your going to be
able to do everyday!
